FINAL PROJECT - Animated Infographics
06/01/20 - 12/01/20 (Week 1)
In this class, Mr Shamsul briefed us about the course module and the final project. We had to breakdown the information given into parts and transform it into visual narrative that aiming to educate the viewers about the issue.Mr Shamsul also showed us some of the senior's work as a reference that could provide us some rough idea on how would be the final result looked like. After consideration, my group picked the first topic which is Men vs Women to work on as we think this topic was really interesting to work with.
Role Assignation:
Script writing: All of the members
Graphic: Chia Min, Ke En
Motion: Pei Yi, Mei Ying
Sound & Narration: Jia Yi
We came out with the idea to create an infographics animation about the difference of the skin care between men and women. We started to do research and collect information to decide the theme of the animation that based on the topic of Men vs Women.

NOTES: Mr Shamsul required us to come out with 5W1H Questions which were: Who, What, Why, Where, When, How. The questions were aiming to build the story before transferring the information into the storyboard to ensure that we would not out of topic easily.
13/01/20 - 19/01/20 (Week 2)
(No Class on Wed 15/01/20)
For this week, we had to come out with a moodboard with relevant information included:
Graphic style: 2D
Typefaces: Courier Regular & Trebuchet Ms Regular
Color scheme: Miixed vivid palette
Transition style: Camera movement & colour transition
We decided to go for a minimalist 2D graphic style as we wanted to focus more on the information and knowledge we were going to deliver for the audience. The typeface we had chosen were Courier Regular and Trebuchet Ms Regular as the clean stroke of the typeface were suitable for this theme. For the colour scheme, we picked the vivid color palette to match the beach scene. Camera movement and colour transition motion style were chosen as they were more easy to master and control well in a limited time.

After we done the moodboard presentation, we needed to continue with the storyboard sketches. For we started the sketches, we had a discussion to confirm with the narration script to ensure that the storyboard sketching process was smooth and efficient. Below the the 2 version of storyboard created by Pei Yi and me, we soon had a discussion on the combination of the story visual development.

NOTES: Mr Shamsul said that we had a good moodboard as it had included the clear direction as well as the adequate information for our project. On the other hand, Our lecturer pointed out that it was good have the storyboard prepared but we should draw it in a bigger frame of a standard ration of 16:9/1920 x 1080 with the detail info like story, visual effect, sound and duration included.
20/01/20 - 26/01/20 (Week 3)
This week, we had to convert the hand sketching into a photoshop file in order to prepare the scene for the animatic. I start up the photoshop file according to the standard format which was horizontal A4 size paper with frame in ratio 16:9.
Information to be included in PS Storyboard:
Narration
Duration
Visual Effect
Sound Effect
I created the storyboard with separated layers to ensure that every scene were well organised. After done with the layer separation, I started the simple drawing for the each scene and with the visual effect stated below each scene. The zip file of the ps storyboard were uploaded in the google drive group, Pei Yi and Jia Yi will continue woring on the animatic's narrative, duration and sound effect.

NOTES: We had a small discussion with our group members to double confirm the task assignment. We agreed that to cut down some scene if the duration of the whole animation was too long.
27/01/20 - 02/02/20 (Week 4)
For this week, we had to done the animatic before we went to the japan research trip. Below are the completed animatic. As the whole duration of the animatic was a little too long, we decided to adjust the speaking rate and the content of the scene.
On this week, we started to confirm the color scheme of the assets for the first scene. Chia Min was in charge of the items asset drawing and Ke En was in charge of the character design and drawing. After I received the assets for introduction part arranged by Chia Min, I started to do the colour and the drawing checking. I had to rearrange all of the layers in the consideration of animation. Plus, some of the component of the character drawing was not completed, hence I needed to redraw and adjust the character.

17/02/20 - 23/02/20 (Week 7)
Below were the asset drawing after adjustment and modification. Vivid and playful colour scheme was applied to set off the theme of beach. After I completed with the layering and the (characters & props) illustration drawing, the whole illustration asset was well arranged and saved into 3 main AI file. All of the AI files were imported into the AE for the first animation test out. I discussed the work to do with Pei Yi to ensure the smooth and effective completion of task.

24/02/20 - 01/03/20 (Week 8)
(submission due on Sunday 01/03/20)
To start off the animation, I shared the zip file of the first small part animation of the introduction with Pei Yi to ensure that she could open the AE file in her laptop. She did some adjustment for the tittle motion effect and also some animation for the birds in the blue sky to try out the motion effect in Intro animation. After confirming the motion effect, we continue to work on separated part of animation. With the motion effect done, I did the last checking for the animation with Jia Yi to ensure the duration was just right for the voice over and sound effect. The completed animation was rendered after Jia Yi had done the composition of voice over and sound effect.
