During the first class, Ms Anis and Mr Kannan were introduced as our lecturers. Course module was briefed to understand the course outline. Ms Anis started the first lecturer about the Manuel Lima's 9 Directives Manifestos. After that, we informed to form a group of 4 to prepare for the flip class presentation according to the topic given on next class.

Today, my group needed to deliver a flip class presentation as well as listening to the other groups sharing on the same topic. Through this session, we were encouraged to learn from each other as well as strengthen my understanding on the knowledge that I was unfamiliar with. Moreover, I understood the the 9 key principles to create an industry standard information visualization design.

The flip class presentation today was about the Chunking Principles of Saul Wurman's.
NOTES: Mr Kanan pointed out that it was crucial to have a interaction with the audience by avoiding reading too much the about the slides but try to prepare more before the presentation so that we could elaborate the points further with our own words. It also aiming to show your audience you had a well understanding and preparing about the topic you were sharing.

Through this session, we were encouraged to learn from each other as well as strengthen my understanding on the knowledge that I was unfamiliar with. Moreover, I understood the the 9 key principles to create an industry standard information visualization design.
Manuel Lima’s 9 Directives Manifesto:
1. Form Follows Function 功能性
2. The Power of Narrative 故事性
3. Interactivity is Key 互动性
4. Embrace Time 时间性
5. Look For Relevancy 关联性

NOTES: Ms Anis said that my group had did a good job. For the manifesto no.7 (Embrace Time) was not only saying that designer needed to come out with a design that able to deliver a easy understand information that adapted to the hectic pace of modern people but also utilize/consider the time element when the information is affected by the moving of time so that the info would be more relevant and important.

The flip class presentation today was about the L.A.T.C.H Principles of Saul Wurman's. Organizing information meaningfully and effectively, is still one of the biggest problems faced by every designer, the L.A.T.C.H Principles is an effective method to organize and categorize information
“Information may be infinite, however… the organization of information is finite as it can only be organized by LATCH: Location, Alphabet, Time, Category, or Hierarchy. I’ve tried a thousand times to find other ways to organize, but I always end up using one of these five.” --- Saul Wurman's

Today Ms Anis shared us the coming up lecturer about the different type of infographic styles according to the purpose. After the simple explanation by our lecture, we were given some time to start searching info to prepare our next presentation. Ms Anis wanted us to experience the usage of online infographic design tool by recreate the infographic poster.

NOTES: After finishing the presentation, Ms Anis and Mr Kannan replied that we had did a great job in this presentation. Ms Anis praised that Jia Yi had did a good respond when the slides did not displayed well at the first time as she straight away started the presentation while waiting the slides to respond. All of the group members who were presenting had a huge improvement comparing with the first time of our presentation.
