This week, Ms Razif assigned a final assignment for students. Students were required to record and create their own audio without using the audio available on the internet. Two silent videos were available for students to choose from, students could either choose to work on the silent movie video or the game video. I decided to work on the game audio design as I’ve never tried it before. To start with the project, I did some research on a gem audio design tutorial. I listed down the possible sound effect required for the game audio and complete the sonic storyboard.

Week 14 | Sound Recording
There were around 19 sound effects I needed to create for the game silent video which included wind blowing, walking, jumping, sprinting, kicking, explosion, diamond dropping, metal cage and many more. Below were the items utilised to create the sound and the recorded sounds for game audio.
Curtain: the sound of the curtain
Metal Cabinet: metal gate/explosion sound
Pillow: punching/landing sound
Nylon bag; walking sound
Laptop support: punching/kicking/walking sound
Back scratcher: special sound effect
Flip-flop: explosion/punching sound
Cloth: curtain/cloth closing sound
Book: paper flipping sound
Paper: paper tearing sound
Empty glass bottle: create a "stamping" sound by hitting it on the book cover
Coins & bottle cap: diamond/gold sound

Week 15 | Sound Adjustment & Final Editing
After completing the audio creation and recording, I proceed to work on the audio editing using adobe audition. The first thing I was required to do was to remove the background noise for the sound clip I recorded at home. Then I continued to apply audio editing effects such as reverb, echo, pitching, flanged, parameters equalizer and so on. Furthermore, I did the layering for the audio to enrich the audio effects. Below was the working process in adobe audition and the final export.
# Consultation Note: Mr Razif mentioned that the overall sound design was instrumental drive, and the final result was a good job. Some of the audio needed some more adjustment such as making the walking sound slightly louder, lower the reverb/bass of the explosion around as well as removing the drum sound effect during the character's dying moment. Need to ensure the overall audio was balanced.
